Joy, Life Purpose, Passion

Joy in Your Work

Who doesn’t want more JOY in their life? How about in your work? I struggle with the word ‘work’ and I think I know why…..

It’s because of a secret. The sooner one understands and learns this secret, the sooner JOY unfolds. What is this secret? The secret is that once you discover what you are passionate about and you pursue that, whatever you do around that passion will infuse more JOY into your life and work and you will no longer think of your work as ‘work’. It will now be your passion and your purpose.

“The heart of human excellence often begins to beat when you discover a pursuit that absorbs, frees you, challenges you, or gives you a sense of meaning, JOY or passion.” ―Terry Orlick

If you are unclear as to what you are passionate about, ask someone who knows you well to share with you the following:

When you are talking about a subject and your eyes literally light up and you become more animated. This may sound too simple to be true, but it is very true. As a Life Coach for many years, I have seen this exact display of passion and purpose in the eyes of many and it always is a direct hit to what a person is passionate about.

Let JOY be Your Compass

“If you carry JOY in your heart, you can heal any moment.”

If you know me, you know I use the word ‘JOY’ a lot! 🙂 I really believe that the most direct connection to have more divine moments in our lives, is through JOY. To me, these are the moments that matter the most! I know there will be challenges and hardships in life, so on the flip side, I FOCUS on creating JOY and bringing it into my life as much as I can.

In fact, just yesterday I came up with a new term for things like a ‘coffee break’ or a ‘break’. Now I call them “JOY Breaks“. 🙂

Finding ways to experience more JOY is well worth the effort, in my opinion. For many years now I have shared with people my “JOY Meter” theory that I developed. Whatever you do or think about doing in your life, ask yourself “Does this bring me JOY?” or “Will this experience bring me JOY?” And then see where it sits on your JOY meter.

For example, let’s say a friend asks you to take a trip to a city four hours away. How does your heart respond when you hear the question? Do you feel instant elation and excitement ie. your JOY Meter is dinging and pulsing to the top, or do you feel dread and your heart is heavy? Maybe you love this city or maybe you don’t or maybe the thought of a 4 hour drive pleases you or displeases you? Either way, simply check in with your JOY Meter and find out.

It is really simple actually. Start to do and pursue things that bring you JOY and that set your JOY Meter off, and most importantly honour yourself by listening to that meter! 🙂

“Just follow your joy. Always. I think that if you do that, life will take you on the course that it’s meant to take you.”

What is the Secret Ingredient for Success in Life & Business???

Sharing a Secret ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

What is the difference between people who struggle in life and/or business, and those who accelerate and advance with gusto?  What stops people from fully enjoying and embracing what they do? What is that secret ingredient that makes a difference?

As a Life & Business Coach, I hear these very common questions a lot. What’s missing in my life or my work? Why am I not happy? What is this void I am feeling? Why are others successful at what they do and I am not? “Something is missing, they say”.

So what exactly is the fuel behind what we do, why we do it, and for what reason?

For many years as both a Life Coach and in leading entrepreneurs, I have seen this common thread often. Many people have the misconception that the importance is in what they do, verses why they are doing it.

So what is this secret fuel or ingredient? The answer is PASSION! Passion is the energy behind creation and doing. It is the fuel that propels us to greatness, or even to simplicity.  It is something we desire. Either way, passion is an integral component to why we do what we do, whether it’s personally, or in business.

Sometimes we need to be very honest and clear about digging deep to discover the passion that already exists in the things we do. For example, perhaps you have a home based business specializing in non-toxic products and believe you are truly passionate about your products and services? Is it really the products you are passionate about? Or is it that you love you non-toxic products because you have a passion for a greener earth? Is that what truly fuels your mission?

Many times what we are doing is simply using various vehicles to fuel our passions. Vehicles we use might be: types of businesses, being a part of an organization, being a group member, volunteering, creating, art, and the list is endless.

What if we did not focus on ‘The What’ but stayed clear on the ‘Why’? When we see clearly and align with our passions, the channels open up to us, like opening floodgates! This is when the magic happens. The Universe clearly hears our message and matches our frequency. Now we can soar to great heights faster and smoother.

What is passionate to you? Is it being the maker of your own destiny? World peace? Time freedom? Animals? Feeding the hungry? Natural foods? The list is endless.

My friend Helen recently opened a raw food café called Bliss Café. Helen is passionate about food as our medicine, and passionate about sharing both the food, and her message, with others. Anyone who knows her will agree. In fact, her passion is contagious!

Would you agree that Steve Jobs, Nelson Mandela, Ghandi, Mother Teresa, Bill Gates, Julia Child, all were or are passionate? Absolutely! Passions come in all forms.

When we wake up and embrace our Passion, the magic happens. It does not matter if we are the bread maker, service provider, concrete layer, or financial wizard, as long as we are fueled by our personal passions, we will have a winning formula.

I have heard people say they don’t understand why their business is not working, or why they feel stuck. I offer to them a challenge, to truly seek out and find their underlying passions.  They will then understand the ‘why’ behind what they are doing.

Perhaps you are in a transitory position, or job that is not ideal, but rather than looking at it as a chore, or a drain, see it as a very integral and important stepping stone on your journey to developing your passion. See it as leading you to the next phase of your journey which is fueled by your passion. When you see it as a stepping stone to your passion, rather than as a grind, it changes everything. It is moving you closer to your desires, not taking you away. Seeing it this way shifts everything.

The same is true in education. When we are truly interested and passionate about a subject the learning comes easy to us. There is a sweetness, and eagerness, and we want to eat it all up, just like a good book, or a great read.

Two of my passions are Nature and Beauty. So now I go out and take pictures in nature. I then share them with the world through Social Media. Am I a professional photographer? No, but I am riding on my passions and utilizing them to benefit others at the same time. Too often we get caught up in details that block our passion. As Nike says “Just Do It”.

So the next time you feel disconnected as to who you are, or why you are doing what you do, ask yourself what makes me happy? What do I love to do? What puts a spring in my step? What gets me out of bed in the morning? Then take those seeds of passion and plant them! There is no right or wrong way to do this, just get the ball rolling.

Have fun with it, listen to your heart, and enjoy!

The Drum of Spirit

dreamstime_xs_8469788Today, in this moment, I am really feeling the need or calling to write and express the messages I have been receiving recently about life, and well without a better way to say it, “living it”.  I feel this need to put into perspective my own priorities and the overwhelming desire to put first the things that matter most.

We often spend a lifetime in a process that is preparing us for something and that something is usually later and farther down the road of life. I am getting a deep, deep, desire and knowing that we are here to BE the process.  We are here to fill our moments and days with the things that truly matter most.  The playground of life is here for our picking and we need to PICK!  We can make choices that truly brings us significance, meaning and beautiful moments as members of life expressing itself.

I personally, am moving away from being a physical being and reacting on earth, and more into having a deeper connection with my spirit. I find myself observing more and engaging less. I let spirit move me. Like right now while I am typing this and listening to soothing music and I gaze out the kitchen window to see the sun bouncing off the wet leaves of fall’s frost melting and I feel myself one with it all.  The music, the leaves and I are all dancing to the same beat orchestrated through my divine self.

It may seem cliché but if we can look at our lives from the end, it is easy to see what matters most.

Imagine what that would look like

There is nothing we need to be or do or have and there is nowhere to get to. When I remember this from that divine space within myself, I absolutely know what is significant for me.  It becomes so simple yet so exciting. I know that what matters most to me is love, peace, harmony, nature, my writing and expressing, preparing food to nourish and nurture my body and soul, laughing, loving and just being.

I recognize that I have spent much of my life handling ‘things’ and ‘stuff’ and at this point I feel that I want to release a lot of that and be free to live more from the movement of my soul.  I am understanding more that the stuff, the titles, and the ego’s quests are not my soul’s priority. I know I am here to make a difference and that is simply because I am here and there is no other requirement except showing up and being my authentic self.  I believe that this is true for all of us. However, I am passionate about life and that gives me my purpose.

I have this renewed sense of making the moments count.  It is like “Wow, I can’t believe I have not made use of my life’s moments doing the things that make me the most happy?”  I see it so clearly now and at least in this moment.  It comes and goes, which is why I like to write my feelings down when they express themselves and I am feeling like I am ‘getting it’. lol

There are so many things we’ could’ or ‘should’ be doing as we all tell ourselves but in this moment, for me, the most significant thing was to write out my thoughts about this and express myself and I am doing it and it feels so right.  I want to listen to this inner voice more and to hear the callings of my soul.  I want to remember that we are creators and life is just a big canvas with which to create our souls callings and to have the grandest adventure or the simplest solitude and it’s all good.

May you go today, led by your spirit and remember to question what matters most  for you and to honour the deepest voice within you.  It always speaks, but it is our job to listen and to dance to the  beat and drum of our heart’s desires.
