March 6, 2022 My Thoughts on My One-Year Anniversary of My Cancer Diagnosis

What I’m Feeling & Thinking This Morning

Today’s blog post will be largely in audio format.

In this 4 minute audio I share some thoughts on how I feel today on March 6th of 2022, and how that transpired from March 6th of 2021, when I made that life changing trip to the emergency department at my local hospital.

I want to thank you all for supporting me on my journey because it has been hugely impactful and helpful for me and I can’t stress enough the goodness that comes from having people think of you with love, kindness, compassion, empathy, and loving thoughts in general. It truly is a magical way to be supported and loved so Thank you!

Without further ado here is the audio clip link And if for any reason you cannot access this please let me know so I can help you to access it or so I can adjust the way I share this.

Why Not UNchoose?

Maggie, no matter the temptation, you no longer think or say, “I’m anxious,” “I’m hurt,” or “I’m angry.” Because each of these feelings are choices, that can be unchosen, instead of reinforced. And you will be amazed,   The Universe This was my beautiful note from the Universe the other morning and I quite loved it.โ€ฆ

Breaking Down To Break Through

Quote by Maggie Holbik: “Sometimes in life we fall down or even hit rock bottom because we are meant to find something there”. #trust

Life has its ups and downs and it is interesting indeed. In fact the ebb and flow of life is what makes in interesting. :=)

Hitting Rock Bottom

However, there are times where we fall or hit our bottom. Whether it is through the loss of loved ones, addictions, illness, job loss, breakups, trauma, or just anything that we feel derails us and brings us to our knees.

Silhouette illustration of a man praying on his knee outside at beautiful landscape

In life we all experience these to one degree or another, or our loved ones and friends and colleagues do, because this is life.

These derailing times can be hard, very hard.

However, as a person who loves to offer HOPE and inspiration, I reflected on the quote I made above, and I could indeed find many examples and stories of people that I know who have shared their stories of how their rock bottom led them to a new chapter in their life and often times that new chapter was a beautiful one.

I remember reading somewhere or hearing someone say “When you throw your hands up in the air and give up, that is the best thing to happen”. Why? Because it means we stop the fight and we ‘break down to break through”. This is where the magic happens because we no longer are in resistance.

The Sweetness of All Of It

Through my years of my own experiences and hardships, my coaching of others and my own relationships, I have taken from these tough experiences, the ‘sweetness’. What do I mean by the sweetness?

I mean things like:

. When we have had an illness and we recover or it gets better, we no longer take our health for granted.

. When we lose someone we love, we are reminded to cherish those who are still here on earth next to us.

. When we give up our fight with our addiction(s) and find freedom.

. When we have learned boundaries that were necessary and can now feel safe and even experience JOY from this.

. When we decide that we have more power over our circumstances than we once thought, it brings freedom and peace of mind.

. When a relationship ends and we start the real relationship with ourselves and understand self-love.

. When we move or move on and find new things to cherish and new things to experience.

These are just a few examples of ‘the sweetness’ and I am sure you can come up with some of your own too. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope that this post has offered you something, whether it is insight, strength, HOPE, or anything at all that helps. That would make MY heart happy.

And as always, if you are struggling and need help, please reach out. It takes strength and courage to reach out and I know that you have that. I believe in you.

With Much Love,

Maggie

Bittersweet & Finding Sweetness at This Time in History…..

โ€œI searched among her crayons for a color that represented autumn and pulled out an orange-toned crayon, never used. It read โ€œBittersweet,โ€ and I wondered why that particular name. Autumn was my favorite time of yearโ€ฆ I was always ready for the change. I guess some people didnโ€™t see it that way. Some people wanted to cling to summer… I loved both seasons, but I thought no one would ever call spring bittersweet, even though it was just another change, another new cycle, an end to one season and a beginning for another in an endless, never-ending spiral.โ€
โ€• Janet Rebhan,

I ran across this quote today that reminded me of what we are going through in the world right now. It truly is Bittersweet. I know a lot of people are in fear right now but there is so much goodness happening too!

We are getting clearer on who we are and what is important. We are stepping up to the plate of humanity and serving others. We are learning to look through the eyes of Love for the entire world. We are all collectively thinking of new horizons that we will be so grateful for.

Just as the changes of the seasons throughout the year and the seasons of our life can be bittersweet, so is this time we are in.

I encourage you to look for the Sweet. As I typed this my daughter popped in to say hi to me and I looked at her sweet face and I knew what it all meant.

Sweet Sivanna Rose

Look for the sweetness. It is always there if you look.

I also this today in a Facebook Post that my friend Meredith Ann Deasley shared. Meredith is a Certified Life Coach, Registered Holistic Nutritionist and Spiritual Vitality Expert!

This is what I saw and it Inspired me!

She shared her notes for the day and this is a snippet from them. I love it!

It says in regard to how she sees herself:

“The way I taught myself to turn every negative into a positive from a young age. (and people think I’m naive! hee hee) Meredith Ann Deasley

Well I have to say I loved that. I am seeing so much positive in all that is happening and I continue to do so. Of course I have compassion and empathy for others and I understand some people’s anxiety is running high, but I do think we can choose to see Goodness and Sweetness and I hope that you look for and enJOY the Sweetness too. It is even sweeter at times like this because we appreciate it more. ๐Ÿ™‚

We Are Learning โ™ฅ To Cherish Life โ™ฅ And It’s a Good Thing

Things are certainly changing quickly, and life as we know it is regrouping right before our very eyes, and it is happening on a global scale.

It may sound strange to you, but the more that this is happening, the more I am getting feelings of well-being and knowing. I do feel there is a lot of good that will come out of these challenging times.

During this time of uncertainty, I think we are all starting to appreciate and see our lives differently. The word I have come up with is โ™ฅ Cherish โ™ฅ . We are starting to โ™ฅ Cherish โ™ฅ our lives in a whole new way.

I just got off the phone with someone near and dear to me, and she shared with me that while out walking yesterday, she looked up at the blue sky and just started to cry in appreciation of how beautiful the world really is. Her tears were not tears inspired by fear but rather from a place of appreciation and realization.

It seems that everything is becoming more cherished and that we are recognizing the gift in many things that we have taken for granted. For example, being able to access convenience products like toilet paper, being able to buy nourishing foods, being able to freely go where we want, to be able to travel anywhere in the world, being able to attend schooling, and many more. Sometimes we have to drag ourselves to the gym or to go for a walk and I am sure the day will soon come when we will be so grateful that we are once again able to go the gym without worry. I bet will run to get to the gym. ๐Ÿ™‚

We will get through this and that day will come.

I for one, am cherishing the most simple things and appreciating them in a whole new way.

I really, really feel that there is a shift happening and what we are experiencing is all a part of regrouping or shifting of the planet to a place, that quite frankly, needs a good regrouping. A regrouping of the way that we are too dependent on consumerism, on how we treat out bodies and our planet, on how we treat each other, on how we waste so much, on how we take for granted so many things…….. and on and on.

I have been hearing and reading so many wonderful posts and comments from people who are taking this time to enJOY reconnecting with loved ones, reading books, reflecting on life and just making a challenging time better.

We always have a choice. I hope you choose to see the gifts that are now here and to uncover what it is that you cherish. I hope you will join me in holding the frequency of optimism. Together we create collective consciousness and consciousness creates…. let’s create HOPE, let’s see (ใฃโ—”โ—กโ—”) new and better HORIZONS, and let us all remember that the sun will rise again tomorrow and the next day and the next. We will get though this. Let us do so in LOVE.

Peaceโ˜ฎ๏ธ to all and Love to All! โ—ฆโ€ขโ—โ—‰โœฟ ฤปแต’ืฉั” โœฟโ—‰โ—โ€ขโ—ฆ

faith, thoughts are things

How Miraculous!!!!!!

Today, while organizing some things, I dropped a packet of seeds and they fell onto a table. I think they are zucchini seeds. I marveled at how these tiny, tiny, seeds become gorgeous zucchinis. In that moment I reflected on the miracle of all living things and that we too come from a tiny, tiny, egg that meets a tiny, tiny, sperm. All of this is miraculous to me!

I also thought about how the seeds produce and they make more seeds to recreate the miracle. WOW! I hadn’t really pondered on that before in such a way and I opened myself up to the profoundness of it.

It got me thinking…… this is like our ideas and our dreams. If we have ideas (seeds) but we don’t plant them, they die and they do not grow and they do not reproduce. This is huge. So then how important is it to nurture your ideas, wants and desires? Super important! These seeds can create worlds but we need to plant them so they continue to give.

I also thought about the biblical saying about the faith of a mustard seed so I googled and there are a few but this one wowed me: ” “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that THE BIRDS OF THE AIR come and NEST IN ITS BRANCHES.

This one kind of brings it all home for me. If we can produce life from a tiny, tiny, seed and life is a miracle so be it when we ‘sow it in our field’ or our mind! If we can have the faith of a tiny, tiny, mustard seed, which is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree (larger than life) and then the birds can nest in it’s branches …… the seed feeds the cycle of life and rebirth. WOW!

I have a whole new respect for the power of a tiny, tiny, seed. I will remind myself that my thoughts are tiny, tiny, seeds that can grow to huge proportions and that can do great things in the world! I will use them wisely and I will have faith in the power of tiny, tiny, seeds. ๐Ÿ™‚

Be sure you plants seeds that you want to grow. Let’s not die with our seeds still in us, shall we? ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Gardening!

Mornings = HOPE

As I sit here at the keyboard, in the early morning, witnessing the birth of a brand new summer day, I am once again in awe of life. Mornings are the granted promise of a new day and with a new day comes new Hope.

Hope is the pillar that holds up the world. Hope is the dream of the a waking man.

One of my favorite sayings that a friend shared with me years ago is “Where there is breath, there is Hope”. I’ve never forgotten that.

I hope you are all enJOYing your morning today and that you are excited for this new day that is full of Hope and Promise. I am infusing these words with extra LOVE if you who are reading this right now, need some extra LOVE. Blessings to YOU!

Divine Signs, Rainbows

Rainbow Messenger

In times of strife sometimes we need a sign.

On Monday of this week. I finished my sixth class, entitled “The Meaning of Life” in my first round of Infinite Possibilities classes. It was a magic moment and I think my students really enJOYed the workshop. In fact, there were some pretty major shifts that happened for some of them.

In the last class we cover that life indeed does have adversity and challenges and that these are a normal part of life. They make us stronger in fact, but they can be very challenging indeed.

Last night while driving in my car, I was pondering on some challenging situations and reflecting on hopeful and positive outcomes. It was one of those moments when you are kind of like “please give me a sign”… you know those kind of moments when your strength is not enough but you need an extra boost of Hope or Faith? Well I got just that….

I rounded a corner and saw this:

I had to pull over and take a picture. It was just what I needed. And this rainbow stayed with me until I reached my destination!

And to make it even better, this morning when I went to Facebook and opened it, the first picture I saw was this rainbow that a friend took. It was there right in my face. The same rainbow that I saw taken by my friend! It was like a sign all over again and just reinforced everything.

I found this blog post explaining rainbows and there is really cool info in here

https://www.universeofsymbolism.com/rainbow-symbolism.html

Like: “Rainbows bring the promise that the troubles of today will surely come to pass, hold strong in your faith and vision, and the rainbow with bring fresh beginnings, and new prosperity”.

And: “The symbolism a Rainbow intuitively tells us to hold on to HOPE, to believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that sacred blessings open to us when we are following our hearts desire.”

I remember when I was pregnant and seeing a double rainbow while driving. My daughter ended up being premature and that was a tough time. Remembering that rainbow helped me get through that. Somehow I knew things would be ok.

I hope you too take comfort and strength in the signs offered to you. Perhaps this blog post is a sign for you and I hope it becomes the strength for you today that you need. I have lovinging infused these words with strength, hope, and LOVE โค which are all sent to you that are reading these words right now.

With Much LOVE & JOY,

Maggie

The Gift of Inspiration

On Valentine’s Day my daughter gave me the most beautiful gift. She made both her Dad and I a handmade book full of inspirational quotes. We are to open one a day. She spent a lot of time making these books and we absolutely love them, of course.

This was the back of my book… and she used my proper name so this is an official real book. ๐Ÿ™‚

margaret

I thought these quotes will be great to give me ideas for blog posts too. Here is today’s.  I am sure you can figure out that there is a little spelling error and the word should be stronger, not stoner :-). This makes it even more adorable to me. As long as we know what she meant, it’s perfect! I have learned that imperfection is perfect, and if we focus on perfection we will never be the artists of the world… something to ponder on. ๐Ÿ˜‰

strongerhand

I love this quote because it is a great example of life. It’s not a matter of if we will fall or fail, we will! But it’s more important that we keep trying and that we get back up and that we become stronger from the falls and the fails.

Recently someone asked me to be a guest on their TV show sharing my personal story of struggle and hardship through to wellness because they knew I had a story.  I thought about it, listened to my gut, and declined.

I see all of my past experiences as stepping stones that have gotten me to where I am today. The hardships and challenges have made me who I am so I see them as GIFTS! I did not feel I could properly convey myself to share the hardship piece because I don’t feel that way.  I see everything as if it was perfect! It was the contrast I needed to show me what I do want. ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t want to talk about painful stuff. It does not serve me. I am too focused on where I am now and en-JOY-ing the next phase.  I hope this makes sense cause I feel I am having a hard time conveying it for some reason…. but that’s okay, no perfection here. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyhow, I am so looking forward to opening these quotes up everyday. What a delight and what a thoughtful gift… the BEST!

Bird Wisdom

Yesterday on a cold, cold day in January as this great Lake of Superior wass forming ice in some spots, closer to shore, I spotted these birds. I think they were ducks, but I am not 100% certain… but pretty certain. The Canadian Geese have gone south already so it can’t be them. If anyone knows though, let me know.

Anyhow, as I watched them, I would see them shaking off the cold water from their bodies every so often. It made me think of that saying “Water off a duck’s back”. But then I thought there is so much wisdom here.

Sometimes these birds are swimming around carefree on a beautiful sunny day without a care in the world, just like us. However, at other times they are swimming in a pool of life’s challenges like this cold and threatening water, or they have to transition to a new location.

I watched them swim around the patches of ice forming, shaking off and continuing on, looking for open water to swim in. This is like us! Sometimes things are easy and sunny and bright and at other times, they are more challenging and we have to move through those times and shake it off, like water off a ducks back.
duck3

I hope today’s ‘bird wisdom’ helps you to move through life’s challenges and to ‘shake them off’ when you need to … just like water off a duck’s back. ๐Ÿ™‚

A View of The World from Two 12 Year Olds

Today I am sitting here with my 12 year old daughter Sivanna and her friend Robyn. While I was thinking of what I would blog about today, I thought hey why don’t I ask these two wise ones some questions about life.

Question #1
What excites you about the thought of your future?
Sivanna: Finding somebody like a husband or partner and making a family together that’s full of love and stuff.
Robyn: Making her own family with her husband.

Question #2
What makes you feel good?
Robyn: Being with my friends and family.
Sivanna: When I take my probiotics because when I’m not feeling well it makes me feel better.

Question #3
What makes a good friend?
Robyn: When they are like there for you and they are not mean and you have fun with them!
Sivanna: They respect you and your opinions and feelings.

Well I think these were some wise and interesting comments. It sounds to me that health and happiness in life come from loving and enjoying the people in our lives and also by respecting the thoughts and feelings of other people. Thanks girls for your insight and for sharing today.
