Don's Words, Dons Wisdom

My Exclusive Interview with Don Perry, My Spouse & His Views on Healthy Living & Longevity

Here is an interview chat I did with my spouse Don today about his secrets for healthy living and longevity. I find him such an inspiration and I wanted to share that.

A picture of Don looking good.

So, Don you recently turned 75 this summer or as you say 57 ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Can you share with us some of your secrets to healthy living and longevity?

DON:

Well I have several things that I like to do.

I exercise 3 times a week, 2 hours a day, and I take vitamins and high-quality supplements every day. I also drink fruit smoothies with Aloe Vera Juice. I am fortunate to not be on any prescription medications.

I read positive books every morning while I am drinking my Isotonix vitamins. I find this helps me to start my day on a very positive note, helps me to handle stress better, and to keep my body and mind healthy.

I write my own spiritual poems, Christmas messages, Birthday cards, and other writings for family and friends. This makes me feel good and keeps my mind active.

I have great relationships with my spouse, my ex-wife, my siblings, my children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all of my extended family and friends. ย I really feel it is important to have loving relationships in your life.

Even in my 50 plus years, and still going, of owning and operating various businesses, I have had good relationships with all my employees and partners along the way. I feel this has kept my body and mind from being over stressed. Healthy relationships are so important in all forms.

I have also learned to make date nights and spending time with my spouse and partner a priority. We enjoy our date nights on Fridays, and it gives us an opportunity for connection and spiritual growth.

Don people often ask you are you ever planning on retiring? What is your take on that?

I say I am retired because I love what I do and I do not consider it a job so No, I will never retire from being me. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Any final comments Don?

I would take a line from the very first poem I wrote in the year 2000 called โ€œThink Loveโ€

 .

โ€œThe secret to life was sent from above, whatever we do, should be done out of Loveโ€

Well thank you Don. I love you very and much I will see you tonight. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope you enJOYed my lunchtime chat with Don as much as I did. Have a great day every one!

Why Not Encourage & Uplift?

Do you know what I would like to see MORE of in the world today?

People encouraging and uplifting each other.

I am talking about straight up encouragement and supporting our fellow human beings walking the earth as a team of souls travelling together.

I love to see this in people’s personal lives, in community, in business and in life in general.

It feels so good when someone supports you, especially when it comes to things that bring you JOY! For example if someone you know enJOYs somethings like sports, learning, working, reading, playing, using technology, taking pictures, writing, travelling, and the list goes on, support them on their journey. Encourage them to do more of what brings them JOY!

JOY and enJOYment are different for all of us. What brings you JOY may not bring me JOY but we are not here to judge each other. We are here to LOVE each other. Love is also a form of encouragement, upliftment and mutual support and respect.

Let us all encourage each other to find our JOY, to live with and through our own PASSIONS fueled by our own DESIRES that make us HAPPY and JOYOUS.

I wish you nothing but JOY, JOY, JOY, today and every day. I hope you always honor your soul and do more things everyday that make your heart smile and bring you JOY!

6 Easy Ways to Lower Your Stress

6 Ways To Ramp Up Your Positive Vibe & Lower Your Stress!

Stress is the number one killer ... hands down. It affects every part of our being and our health and is a contributing factor to all disease in the body and mind. The best thing we can do to alleviate stress is to work at ramping up the positive and feel good side of our lives. Here are six ways to do that.

Be Grateful

An old Jewish saying recommends that we “bless one thousand things every day”. The more we bless the more we practice gratitude as well. They go hand and hand. From my own research, I have learned and believe, that Blessing something is the highest frequency available to us. Blessing something or someone really taps into the frequency of the highest vibration of all and has tremendous benefits.

Practice gratitude from the moment you arise in the morning until your head hits the pillow at night. Actively find things to be grateful for. The pillow beneath your head, the dishes you need to wash because you indeed have food to eat, the way you can walk by yourself to the bathroom… there are always things to find to be grateful for.

  • Be Aware Of Your Negative Thoughts

Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention, usually to your breath or your thoughts. Mindful breathing is often used to control stress, but mindful thinking can lead to a more positive life. We tend to take our thoughts for granted but they can still make a difference as they float through our minds.

I am very mindful and careful of the thoughts I think and use. I totally get that thoughts are tools that can create or destroy. I pick very wisely.

I control my thoughts, they don’t control me

  • Introduce Positive Thoughts

The staff at The Mayo Clinic point out that just like our thoughts can upset us when we don’t notice them creeping up, but we can also purposely introduce thoughts that make ourselves feel better. Trying to replace negative thoughts from our subconscious with positive thoughts from our conscious mind can be a very valuable tool.

I encourage my clients who struggle with negative thoughts, to have handy, positive replacement thoughts that they can draw upon when needed. The most powerful type of replacement thought are ones that also induce immediate gratitude as well. For example, have a thought ready about how you love your child, or pet, or even your favorite sweater and how it warms you and comforts you! All positive thoughts count.

  • Avoid Negative

Just do it! If you truly want to be happier and to lower your stress, refuse to partake in negative experiences that you have control over. Stop watching the news, ditch the FB friends or friends that are chronic complainers who always are finding fault with the city, the government, the neighbor, the etc. etc. etc. Who has time for this if they are trying to be stress free and happier? For me, I choose JOY! I say it over and over again and you will see it is a common thread in my blogging as well. I shout it from the rooftops “I CHOOSE JOY AND PEACE”!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Look At Challenges As Opportunities

An article by author Paul Sloane published by Lifehack.org recommends looking at potential challenges or setbacks as opportunities to go in another direction. We tend to look at where we are as the culmination of a lot of hard work and so when things don’t go our way we feel like that work was for nothing. What if we looked at it in a different way? I offer you the thought that we have choices and choices mean change. We can always re-choose, re-group and decide again and we do this by looking at where we came from, or where we currently are, and then re-adjusting our direction because we realize we now choose differently. There are no mistakes, just experiences and experiences lead us to the new ones by helping us to discern the next step for us!

  • Spend Time In “Input Mode”

A 2016 article by Inc. points out that we are either in “input” mode or “output” mode. Output mode is when we are doing things for others, or making things, like when we are at work or doing things for our family and friends. Input mode is when we are doing things for ourselves like reading books, exercise, listening to positive materials and such. We can become overwhelmed and resentful when we spend too much time in output mode and not enough time practicing self-care and doing things to make us feeling fulfilled, so be sure to incorporate positive inbound activities that make you feel good and supported.

I hope you find these 6 tips helpful. ๐Ÿ™‚

Top Health Trend for 2019 Might Surprise You!

I was reading an article someone sent to me about the latest wellness trends and what would be popular in 2019. Of course celery juice was #1 on the list. You can learn more about celery juice at my blog post from last year here: Celery Juice 101 Blog Post

But today I want to talk about another trend that I think is awesome! The trend is that people are going to realize that a healthier lifestyle means more than what they eat, how intense their workouts are, etc.

More and more people are coming to realize that the little things we do on a daily basis have a huge impact on our health and peace of mind. These are usually parts of our lives that we take for granted, like spending time with those we love, taking down time, taking a break from technology, reading a book, cooking a meal, playing a board game together, going for a walk, and basically getting back to living and en-JOYing life!

I really love this trend and am inspired to add in more of this life en-JOYment for myself and I hope you too find that 2019 brings you more of the things that make you smile and that connect your with those you love!

I Can’t Stop Looking at this Picture!

yearin review

The other day I shared this blog post over on my other blog http://www.MaggiesVitmamins.Blog and had a lot of engagement when I shared it on FB so I thought it must be inspiring so I will share it on my main blog as well. So here it is ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the FB memories thing, but today when it came up, I was in for a shocker!

Looking at this picture from one year ago today (picture on the left) prompted me to take the picture on the right (just today) to compare the two. This was really a vulnerable experience for me and I debated whether to share it or not, but here I am.

I am amazed at the difference I see. It made me reflect on the changes I have been making in my life. As many of you know, I made a decision to NOT buy into the โ€œIโ€™m getting olderโ€ model and to flip it around to โ€œIโ€™m getting younger all the time and itโ€™s workingโ€ model. ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

I have also coined a phrase for myself and for my nutritional practice which is โ€œNutrition IS the Missionโ€, and I am feeling really, really, good about the results I am seeing not only in myself, but in my clients.

When I look at these two pictures I realize yes, I have lost a lot of weight, but what gets me excited the most is how nourished I look in the 2nd picture. The weight is secondary to me. My skin looks so much better and I can see and feel an entirely different energy in picture #2. The person in picture #2 is embracing her health and the ability to transform it, and itโ€™s working and itโ€™s showing.

For me though most important is the personal empowerment I feel from knowing that changes can and do make a difference and I know that if they work for me, they can work for others. This is exciting!!!!

I do not aspire to any trendy diet, but focus on more nutrition, Joy and just moreโ€ฆ more of the good stuffโ€ฆ especially fruit. I am an advocate of more fruit in the diet and even potatoes. Potatoes were something I did not eat, but now that I โ€˜knowโ€™ how good they are for us, I enjoy them like crazy. I really enjoy the work of Anthony Williams, The Medical Medium, and have learned from him and his teachings and that has been hugely helpful.

Another thing I am focusing on is removing heavy metals from my body and helping others with this as well. By adding in more nutrients and removing pathogens and heavy metals, we can help to balance our bodies and they can run at a more optimal level. Our bodies are always trying to heal us and when we support them, well they love it and do a better job at it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyhow thanks for reading along and I truly appreciate your support by being here.

I feel as though my entire life has prepared me for this time and I am looking forward to sharing all that I have learned through my own personal experience and my nutritional education. I am excited to continue improving my own life and in helping others on their journey to healthier lives using Nutrition as a catalyst to healing and to making positive change.
