cancer, hope, My Cancer Journey

My Journey With Cancer

Hello Everyone!

If you have noticed that my blogging has not been as often, it is because in March, which is oddly enough Colon Cancer Awareness Month, I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. 🙂

I don’t even like to use the word ‘cancer’ as it just has such a negative frequency to it, but I am purposely using it in my blog posts because I want people to be able to find my posts if they Google the word ‘Cancer’. I want to be a light for others who are also travelling on this journey.

When you are diagnosed with the big ‘C’ it is of course very scary and you often turn to Google for help. The biggest thing that anyone diagnosed needs right off the bat is HOPE and sometimes that is not easy to find out there.

Cancer does not have to be a death sentence. It can be an entry into the next grand and glorious phase of your life, but in order for that to happen, one must have HOPE and to be of a positive mindset. This of course must be done at one of the most likely challenging times in one’s life and although not easy it is possible because anything is possible if you believe 🙂

It is my intention to blog throughout my journey and hope that I help others also. And because I have more than one blog I wanted to make everyone here aware that I will also be blogging a lot on my Maggie’s Vitamins Blog in a category called “Cancer”, so you can find posts there as well.

Here is the link:

If you are reading this today I want to thank you for being in my life and supporting me on my journey and if you have newly landed here I thank you for being here. Know that you are never alone 🙂

One of the thoughts I will leave all of you with today, is to make sure that you are doing what you love even if in a small way in your day. Since my diagnosis I am very clear on what is important to me and I am making sure that I do that. For example, writing is one of those things for me and thus this blog post. 🙂 My soul knows more than ever that it is important to do those things that bring us JOY. I hope you do those too!

And here is a link to my post around my recent cancer diagnosis if you are interested in reading that 🙂

My Recent Diagnosis That Has Changed My Life Forever….

Here I am turning 55. Not sure what day you are reading this, but May 3rd is my birthday. It has been an interesting 54th year indeed and it appears my 55th year will be too.

I apologize to you all for missing two months of getting my newsletter out to you, but I had some significant life changing events. And if you are not on my newsletter but just reading here on my blog, thank you for being here today.

So anyhow one of the significant events in the last few months that was quite exciting was that I was voted the #1 Business in my city on the platform Alignable, and that was super cool. I am honoured indeed! It made my heart happy to receive this recognition.

The other super significant thing that happened to me in March was that I found out that I have colon cancer. This was a big revelation to me and sure made me stop in my tracks and evaluate my life in a whole new way.  And wow it turns out that March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

With that said, I will say that there are many gifts in this experience that helps one to both see and appreciate life in a whole new way. And of course, there is also a whole new level of uncertainty that comes with it.

The good news is that I have taken time to sit with this and to adjust to what this means for me. I have been waiting to share my news until now as it has been a lot of adjusting.  I wanted to feel comfortable and strong in myself before I shared this news.  I am using this experience to make me stronger, and it has sure been a learning curve.  This has opened up a whole new world for me and I can honestly say it is not a world where there is much inspiration or JOY involved and my soul craves both of those.

So, I am hoping to inspire others through my own journey and to help others who are also going through this. And step one for me was coming out of the ‘C’  Closet here with you all and secondly I am excited to start blogging some of my insights around this whole thing hoping that I might inspire others who are going through similar diagnoses and also everyone in life to really get clear on what is important to them and to have gratitude for the ordinary things disguised as life.

When you are faced with a life altering diagnosis like cancer, you really, really, see things in a whole new way I tell you 🙂

And on top of all of this, my whole family got COVID in March too! Luckily, we all made it through just fine, but it certainly added an extra depth to things…. More on that in future blog posts. 🙂 Let’s just say I have had the 2 C’s… Cancer, Covid and now I’m going for the 3rd… Cured 🙂

I recently had a colon resection to remove my cancerous mass and that went well. I am two weeks, and two days post op and doing great recovering from that but as you know this is a journey so I will continue on my path of healing and adjusting to my new life.

So far many people have asked me how they can help me and you may wonder that also or you may be  trying to help someone in your life who has had a scary diagnosis like cancer. And this is how you can help…

Please when you think of me or your loved one or friend, think of us with love and see us vibrating in health and wellness. Please see me as healthier than ever and living with vibrancy.  Fear is not our friend and I spend each day doing what I can to vibrate in JOY and with HOPE and with PEACE in my heart. I want you to see me in that way and hold me in that light. If you can all do that for me, I would be forever grateful.

And I know sometimes people like to donate supportive dollars to places like the Cancer Society or Cancer Research and that is awesome, but I think that something even more helpful if you are wanting to do that is to give your donations right to the person.  When one is diagnosed with something like cancer, they may not be able to work as they did before, and they may also be adding in therapies to help them on their journey like I am now, and these can be very expensive. When one is diagnosed with cancer, they are often willing to do anything to make it better and this includes additional therapies like Vitamin C – IV therapy, supplements, Acupuncture, organic foods, juicing, books to help heal, and more! This is all very costly and can be stressful and stress is also something that is not conducive to healing so resources to make it easier always help.

In closing I hope that my new journey will help others also and if you are reading this, I want to thank YOU for being in my life. I am so grateful for all of the people and experiences that I have enJOYed thus far on my journey. I have a deepened sense of gratitude and I want you to know that you are a part of my appreciation.

Please take time for you as this is very important. I will be sharing in future posts things that I was doing or not doing in my life that contributed to the cancer in my body and being overwhelmed was one of them. I am working at simplifying my life and I hope that you too make you a priority.  It is the best thing that you can do for your health and well-being.

With Much Love to All,

Maggie

faith, fear

The Power of Faith

I was doing some tidying up and ran across a book by Wayne Dyer called “A Promise Is a Promise” and it was bookmarked to this page.

“The power of faith is incalculable. If you have an inner knowing that cannot be shaken, regardless of how tragic the outer circumstances seem to be, you will gain the strength to handle all of the challenges of your life. By looking past what we see with our eyes, and perceive the grander purpose that is offered us with our minds, we can not only handle the difficult times, but we can begin to bless them and be thankful for all that we are gaining from these struggles.” Wayne Dyer

It is amazing how messages find you when you most need them. This was a great reminder that I needed at this time in my life and once again I am also reminded to seek JOY as much as possible and even in those times that seem the furthest away…. I have learned that choosing JOY is a choice just like choosing Happiness. 🙂

The first step in the process always is to let go of FEAR. I came up with a new acronym for FEAR:

Forget

Everything

And

REST! 🙂

I like it.

So today I let go of any fear that might be stopping me from living my life TODAY and I also seek and expect to find JOY!

I hope that you too have faith and find JOY!

Much love to all!

love, loving kindness

Love & Loving Kindess

“Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.”

Kahil Gibran

When I think about the most soothing moments in my life, they are the ones where I felt love and that I was also shown love.

I really do believe that we are here on this spiritual journey to express love and to expand our ability to love and to receive love, because we are love. That is who we are. We are love expressing itself. And along with that comes beauty and JOY and compassion…. so many wonderful things.

Lately my favorite words are “loving kindness.” Even if I book myself a medical appointment for a diagnostic or something, I put it in my calendar as my “Loving Kindness Scan” or whatever it is.

I am purposely seeing all people and situations around me as opportunities for me to receive love and well-being from others regardless of their physical role in my life.

When we do this, we can then expand our ability to take in and receive love and that is a good thing because then we have more to give too. 🙂 Awesome all around.

I am sending lots of LOVE your way today too! Can you feel it? 🙂

In Your Darkest Hour or Your Weakest Moment You May Just Find Peace

When I think of death, I think of peace and stillness…. that purely glorious and tranquil space that you have no words for because none will be needed.

Fortunately, one of the things that I have recently discovered about life and living, is that you can reach that type of peace right inside of life and interestingly enough you may just discover it at your darkest hour, your weakest moment or when your pain is the greatest.

Maybe you are going through struggle or strife or maybe your world just turned upside down seemingly overnight. Life can slap us sometimes and from all angles. This IS life.

But do you want to know the sweetness about this? It is here in that very moment, when peace can be found. Now this is just my opinion and from my own experience, but I believe it is because when you just stop struggling, or when you feel you can’t bear another moment or more news, that is when you stop resisting and there it is! There is the peace. Wow. Surprise and Hello and Welcome!

And then the peace says to you:

“I have always been here for you but you were too busy to see me. You were too busy trying to get anywhere but here… but little one I have found you now and may you enJOY this peace that surrounds you. May you relish in it and know that I am always here for you.

I hope that no matter what you are going through that you know that peace can find you. I promise you. It is when we stop searching…. it comes and it will come when you need it most if you are open to receive it.

I send you nothing but Blessings….

In Love & Light….

Fear, Anger & Shame You Don’t Live Here Anymore

Hello Friends!

Today’s blog post is a special feature. I am sharing a piece of writing and some beautiful photographs that tell a story that is good for all of us to hear! It is about loving who we are exactly as we are. I thought is was a beautiful piece written by Wendy Gray who is featured in the pictures below that were captured by Kim Brooker, in a ‘Love The Body You’re In’ photo session. Kim is a photographer and you can follow her on her FB Page here:

And here is a link to Wendy’s Blog should you wish to follow:

Here is the piece written by Wendy and the beautiful photos taken by Kim Brooker… may you enJOY as much as I did…….

From Wendy Gray:

Naked.I walked to the door, and with each step I shed another piece, one by one I pulled, shimmied and shaked until I was free from their confines. When I finally reached the door and opened it to the world outside I was naked for all the world to see. Behind me on a trail on the floor were the remnants of all I had left behind. Anger lay at the foot of the bed. Fear was draped over the lamp, the shade tipsy from its weight. Just by the closet, crumpled in the corner was Shame. It coiled and hissed like a snake about to strike, incensed that it had been slid down my hips and flung into the corner. It screamed vile, hateful words “you’re not enough, you’re ugly! You’re fat!” But I just smiled and turned away, so focused on the light pouring in from outside that I barely heard him bluster, “they’ll laugh at you!” Oh Shame, my lifelong companion. I turned, looked at the hideous wraith and said, “they have laughed. And I survived. “He sneered, “but that dress, it shows your arms! Just look at the flabbiness, the stretch marks, wear a sweater. Cover yourself. Hide! “I looked at Shame and I looked down at my arms and indeed there was excess skin and stretch marks….and there were veins that pumped life and blood through my body…and for once I didn’t see ugly. I saw me. And I was broken, imperfect and beautiful, I turned back to the doorway, to life, to the light and I looked back at Fear, Anger and Shame and said, “you don’t live here anymore. Be gone when I come back.

Just Own Yourself

There is freedom in owning who you are and what you want in life. There is nothing better than feeling personally empowered. This is JOY!

The more that you embrace your true self and honor that, the more the JOY!

Joy, Pain & Suffering

The Messages in Pain & Suffering

“These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.” Rumi

What better to way to expand on this than with another Rumi quote:

“Through Love all that is bitter will be sweet, through Love all that is copper will be gold, through Love all dregs will become wine, through Love all pain will turn to medicine.” – Rumi

In life we cannot and will not escape pain and suffering but what we can do is take the messages from our experiences and turn them into catalysts to project us toward more JOY and BEAUTY and greater LOVE.

The greater the suffering, the greater the JOY on the other side. I have experienced great suffering in my life but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, it has shown me that when life is sweet, it becomes even sweeter….. but it has been the pain that has shown me this. Yes the GIFT of pain!

Right now, many of us are in more pain and fear than ever before and it is understandable but it is also an opportunity. It is an opportunity to take the messages from our pain and fear and cast them upon the sweetness. The darkest depth of despair also brings to light what is beautiful and also is a doorway for our heart’s expansion.

Once again, a Rumi quote comes to mind:

“The wound is the place where the light gets in”

Rumi

I encourage you to see your pain in a different light and to make it ‘light’ and easy. Ask your pain what messages are there for you to use as stepping stones to bringing more JOY and more JOYous moments into the precious time that is left for you here on your earthly journey. 🙂

In Love & Light and with a Light Heart…..

Maggie

Align With Who You Are

“When you align with your soul’s calling opportunities start to present themselves”. Maggie Holbik

Flow. That is what comes to mind when I think of aligning with my soul and with who I am. When I re-member and connect with my divine self, I feel in alignment.

When we are in alignment, our internal and external energies can flow and lead us to those people, places and experiences that are a match to our higher calling.

Are you listening to the calling of your soul? I sure hope so. 🙂

Blessings to all…

Be Great! Be YOU! Serve!

“Everyone has an opportunity to be great because everyone has an opportunity to serve”. Don Perry

Serving is simple. Do for another. That’s it.

…… just do Something 🙂

I hope that you enJOYed today’s blog post. I found this quote in my Facebook memories today and it was written or stated by my honey, Don, in 2011. I thought it was pretty cool. 🙂
