anxiety, Pain & Suffering, The Past

The Past is Real or is it?

Good morning everyone! I wanted to share with you how I felt when I read these words from Byron Katie.

But before I do, just to share some good news, I figured out another technological hack and here is the audio link from SoundCloud which is exactly the same verbal content as this written blog post. So one can listen in audio format or they can read or both ๐Ÿ™‚

Listen to Reality Is Always A Story of The Past.m4a by Maggie Holbik on #SoundCloud

Byron Katie works a lot with thoughts, and she calls it ‘The Work.’ So this quote of her says, ‘reality is always the story of a past.’

Reality is always the story of a past. I just love that! I say it this way however, ‘Reality is a story of the past.’

The reason I love this concept, is because I’ve been saying for years in my lectures, and in my coaching work, that the past is really just what we say it is!!!

We all have had experiences in our lives. We all BELIEVE that we have indeed had these experiences, and that they are true and real for us. And we SAY they are and that they are reality….. or at least our reality ๐Ÿ˜‰

What I find super interesting and fascinating is you can take several people, and ask them all individually about a situation in the past and receive a different version of the so-called Reality.

So let’s say for example, it was a family event or a Christmas dinner many years ago, and you have a group of siblings, and they start sharing about that Christmas dinner in say the year 2005, or whatever or whenever it was. These people will all, and I’ve seen this over and over again, these people will ALL have different versions of that story! And they might even get into a little push and shove match or a little arguing about who’s right or who’s wrong. And the reality is, who is really right?

My suggestion is, they are ALL right!!! They are ALL correct!!! Their story IS their reality. They have created that reality for themselves!

It is really powerful when we understand this, because this can free us from pain. If we look at our past and we say our reality was painful, and that we are triggered from the past, and that this or that has happened to us in the past, and we reflect on it, we end up making that reality we’ve created even bigger and bigger, and bolder and more and more vibrant! It then becomes larger than life so to speak!

I like to be selective in my reality of the past. I CHOOSE what I reflect on. In fact, I’m very much into living in the NOW now. ๐Ÿ™‚ It is just so free here. It’s freeing and JOYful and it releases me from a painful past!

And if I do CHOOSE to look at the past, I am picky and choosey. I select the memories or the realities that I’ve created that make me happy to reflect on. ๐Ÿ™‚

So there’s my tip for the day. And if you get a chance, look into the Work of Byron Katie… it is really awesome. She does amazing work. It is very, very helpful. I know it’s helped a lot of people.

Have a great Day.

Listen to The Gifts of Pain!

“Those pains you feel are messengers…. Listen to them.” Rumi

Pain Is a Doorway

Pain. Pain and suffering are inevitable things that we will experience here on Earth, regardless of how much we wish to avoid it.

I try to look at pain as a prompt especially if it’s emotional pain. What is this pain telling me? What is the message? Is there something that I want to be doing that I’m not? Am I fulfilled in my life, or is there something I feel that I am missing? Am I feeling overwhelmed? Under appreciated? What do I really want?

The questions that you can ask are endless but I encourage you to probe and search to see the message that pain has for you. And sometimes when our pain is physical it’s a prompt to make changes or to have more self care. There are always messages behind pain and suffering.

I’m going to do a voice audio right now to explain a little more about how we question ourselves and access our inner guide which is as a tool for higher insight. I will post the link below and be sure to have a great day everyone!

Joy, Pain & Suffering

The Messages in Pain & Suffering

“These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.” Rumi

What better to way to expand on this than with another Rumi quote:

โ€œThrough Love all that is bitter will be sweet, through Love all that is copper will be gold, through Love all dregs will become wine, through Love all pain will turn to medicine.โ€ โ€“ Rumi

In life we cannot and will not escape pain and suffering but what we can do is take the messages from our experiences and turn them into catalysts to project us toward more JOY and BEAUTY and greater LOVE.

The greater the suffering, the greater the JOY on the other side. I have experienced great suffering in my life but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, it has shown me that when life is sweet, it becomes even sweeter….. but it has been the pain that has shown me this. Yes the GIFT of pain!

Right now, many of us are in more pain and fear than ever before and it is understandable but it is also an opportunity. It is an opportunity to take the messages from our pain and fear and cast them upon the sweetness. The darkest depth of despair also brings to light what is beautiful and also is a doorway for our heart’s expansion.

Once again, a Rumi quote comes to mind:

โ€œThe wound is the place where the light gets inโ€

Rumi

I encourage you to see your pain in a different light and to make it ‘light’ and easy. Ask your pain what messages are there for you to use as stepping stones to bringing more JOY and more JOYous moments into the precious time that is left for you here on your earthly journey. ๐Ÿ™‚

In Love & Light and with a Light Heart…..

Maggie
