A Happy Day on My Cancer Journey

So today I had a phone appointment with my ‘special’ doctor and one of my favorite docs at the cancer clinic, Dr. Kathy Simpson, whom I love! We were scheduled to go over my recent blood work analysis and to check in on any symptoms, new developments, and such.

Well it was a HAPPY day. First let me premise this by saying, this is very much a journey and managing cancer is a process… a journey. And along these journeys it is good to have markers and milestones and today was one for me… a good one.

My blood work came back perfect! What I am doing is working! Without going into the details of my diagnosis, this amazing blood work reading is AWESOME and supports me in that what I am doing with my natural healing protocols along with the support of all of you, is working! Your loving kindness, your prayers, your holding me in the light and seeing me in perfect health, it is working!!!!

I cry tears of happiness but these tears are not only for me, they are for everyone who is dealing with serious illness…. it is a sign of HOPE and ENCOURAGMENT.

And I know my journey will continue and we never know what tomorrow brings but for today I will take today’s win and I will show appreciation for it! I will focus on the good and I will continue to have HOPE! YES!!!

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to this amazing doctor, Dr. Simpson, who said this to me after I thanked her again for her support…. She said: “Whatever marathon path you are choosing, I support you fully”. This spoke volumes to me and made me feel very supported. I am so grateful for all of the amazing people on my team including YOU, if you are reading this. Thank you all! Support is a HUGE piece of the puzzle.

It is my Hope to one day share my full story from the side of complete healing and return to perfect balance in my body, mind and spirit so that others know that it can be done and that they can play an important role in their own healing.

I am sending you all so much LOVE!!!!

And thank you for celebrating today’s win with me. 🙂

Life IS A Classroom BUT……………..

“Life IS a classroom and the lesson is LOVE” Maggie Holbik Quote

Is life indeed a classroom?

My entire life I have thought about this question and I never resonated with the thought of us being here to ‘learn lessons’. I had always believed that we were here to create and to have JOY!

However, I have come to a new understanding, at least for me…..

I feel that we are here to learn the ‘Art of Love’ also. The Art of Love helps us to learn kindness, compassion, empathy, understanding, and more. We learn about these through experience i.e. the days spent in the classroom of life. 🙂

When I was around 16 years old I was given an internal message that I never forgot. That message was that I was on earth to learn to “love and not judge”. I have never forgotten this and it is now even more meaningful for me.

As I travel through life, I continue to experience life’s teachings and they continue to teach me about the gift of the Art of Love. For example, as I walk through my journey with cancer, I am opening to a whole new form of Grace around this Love.

I am learning that every encounter can be an act of Love or an act of Grace, as I like to call it. I know that I learn from every encounter and experience that I have and I imagine that I also have something to offer in the encounter as well. We are all teachers and students in every encounter we have. The secret is to empower others in every experience and hopefully to be empowered also.

For example, I had a phone appointment with someone today who is helping me to set up a program that I may want to access in the future that will help me with my health choices and quality of life. I was so moved by this person and I know that I in turn moved her. I knew right after our phone conversation that what I shared with her by recognizing her role in her work and in the world, might impact her now and forever more. And you know what I also knew? I knew deep down that when we impact one person, it is not just one person, it is the whole. We are all one and when one person is impacted they impact all of those they come in contact with and on it goes.

I hope that you find JOY in the classroom of life and that you too let the Art of Love add richness and meaning to your life.

I encourage you to see every encounter as one where you can enrich someone else’s life and in turn your life may be enriched also.

I love you all!

Maggie

Just One Letter Makes A Difference

I have been so excited to write this blog post! I could hardly wait in fact!

I have been sharing my new discovery with a few people and they were all WOWED by it so now I want to share it with everyone!

How this came to be is that one day I was thinking about my ‘full-time’ job of protocols that I am doing daily for my healing journey with my diagnosis of colon cancer. I thought to myself this is like a JOB. And then it hit me!…………..

I can’t think of this like a job and in that instant I had the vision of these two words: JOB and JOY!

And in that moment I knew that the only difference between the two was ONE LETTER!

It does not matter whether we are referring to a job, working at something, a project, a hobby, a healing protocol, or doing our taxes, it applies to all of it. We have to CHOOSE!

We have to CHOOSE! JOB or JOY?

One letter changes everything.

Not that there is anything wrong with the word job or in having a job, it is just that we often look at ‘jobs’ as work and something that is hard or tedious and that really puts the brakes on in our energetic field. And things just don’t flow like they should!

We must always have JOY in what we do and if we just can’t muster up the JOY to do our taxes because we see it like a JOB like I do lol, that is when we get someone else to do the things we don’t enJOY and we focus on the ones that we do enJOY. Personally I LOVE paying people for products and services that I need. It makes me HAPPY to do so. And if it is not in the budget to get people to do those ‘jobs’ that you don’t want to do, barter! Bartering is a great way to help others and yourself too! We can share our gifts and JOYs that way too!

But no matter what it is, when you shift from JOB to JOY the whole game changes. As for my healing protocol, I not only changed from JOB to JOY, I took it to the next level and turned it into EXCITEMENT! I am excited about my healing journey. I am embracing it and that makes is sooo much easier!

This shifting of one little letter was very refreshing for me to discover and I hope that you find this helpful too! 🙂

On Happiness & The Regrets of The Dying & How I Have Learned To Choose Happy in Spite of It All…

Choosing thoughts has been something I have been teaching and practicing for many years. And now at this point in my life (my cancer journey), it has come into play even more so for me. If I don’t CHOOSE happy thoughts, I suffer A LOT! And I don’t like suffering!

One of my favorite books of all time and one that I refer to a lot is Bronnie Ware’s “The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying”.

There are 5 top regrets people have at the end of their life in general and the number 5 regret she learned from people dying is “I wish I had chosen to be happy”! Wow! I think that is my favorite of the 5. You can read more about all five here:

Not Easy But Gets Easier!

Now, I am not going to tell you that this is easy to do, but I can promise you that the more you do it, the easier it gets. This is probably why I am finding it quite easy in a situation that many people would find it very challenging in and rightly so! I have been ‘practicing’ this for awhile so it is easier for me because of that, but one can start at any time which is the good news!

NOW is all we have..

Choosing Happy means we let go of as much stuff as we can in our mental mind. An old memory? Tell yourself that it is the past and no longer exists but only in your mind and let it go. You need space for HAPPINESS NOW! NOW is all we have. Don’t let the old crap take up space and take away from now. Remember life is short….

Someone says something to you that you feel is hurtful or offensive? CHOOSE not to personalize it and let it go as fast as you can and move on. The faster we can do this, the more content we are. The longer we hang on to it and dwell on it, the more it grows and the more pain we feel.

Get Inspired to CHOOSE HAPPY!

I hope that you get inspired to ‘choose happy’ today and as much as you can. I know that for me, it is GAME ON! I want to squeeze as much JOY as I can out of my time left here on earth… and I hope that you do too!

Have a great day everyone!

Uncanny That I Wrote This the Very Day I was Diagnosed with Cancer!

My FB Post I Wrote Earlier in That Day

A screen shot of my FB post in the early day on March 6th, 2021 and it says “Yep it’s me posting a picture of my window again. I never tire of this view. It is extra beautiful on days like today when the sky is extra blue. It brings me to tears as I think of how grateful I am to get to see ‘one more blue sky’… I never take this for granted anymore”….

May 28, 2021

Now

Yesterday I snapped this picture of the tree outside my living room window at the Lake House. I thought it was so pretty with the birch tree budding new leaves. Currently, whenever I see new leaves or buds on trees I always think that our bodies can become new again just like the trees! It gives me HOPE!

I love this window and watching all of the different displays throughout the seasons. I see it as the window frame is a frame for the pictures that I see outside my window and I enJOY nature’s art observed through it. I especially like the view from my yoga mat 🙂

I have taken many pictures of this window but yesterday I was reminded of my post and picture from March 6, which was the day it turned out that I was diagnosed with my cancer after going the the Emergency Department at the hospital on that Saturday night. I find it uncanny that I wrote this on the same day that I later was diagnosed. 🙂

The more I travel on this journey, the more I KNOW that my intuition knew all along even though I didn’t have a lot of symptoms and I had just had a perfect blood work report shortly before this visit to the hospital.

I have had several ‘knowings’ that ‘I knew’ if that makes sense but this window picture now makes even more sense to me and now the experience is even richer when I look out that window. What a gift! I am so lucky 🙂

Have an amazing day everyone and please see the beauty that is all around you 🙂

Healing With Intention

“What happens when people open their hearts?”
“They get better.” – Haruki Murakami

Open Your Heart to Heal

When we are facing an illness whether temporary, chronic, or terminal, there are always things that we can do that help us to heal, even if it is just healing our hearts and opening to more JOY along the journey.

All healing starts with personal empowerment and intention. What we intend we help to bring about.

As I journey and dance with cancer, I am learning to both embrace and to be open to the gifts that it has to offer. One of the greatest gifts that I have discovered along the way, is that I do have a lot of personal choice when it comes to how I approach things.

My Journey With Cancer

Hello Everyone!

If you have noticed that my blogging has not been as often, it is because in March, which is oddly enough Colon Cancer Awareness Month, I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. 🙂

I don’t even like to use the word ‘cancer’ as it just has such a negative frequency to it, but I am purposely using it in my blog posts because I want people to be able to find my posts if they Google the word ‘Cancer’. I want to be a light for others who are also travelling on this journey.

When you are diagnosed with the big ‘C’ it is of course very scary and you often turn to Google for help. The biggest thing that anyone diagnosed needs right off the bat is HOPE and sometimes that is not easy to find out there.

Cancer does not have to be a death sentence. It can be an entry into the next grand and glorious phase of your life, but in order for that to happen, one must have HOPE and to be of a positive mindset. This of course must be done at one of the most likely challenging times in one’s life and although not easy it is possible because anything is possible if you believe 🙂

It is my intention to blog throughout my journey and hope that I help others also. And because I have more than one blog I wanted to make everyone here aware that I will also be blogging a lot on my Maggie’s Vitamins Blog in a category called “Cancer”, so you can find posts there as well.

Here is the link:

If you are reading this today I want to thank you for being in my life and supporting me on my journey and if you have newly landed here I thank you for being here. Know that you are never alone 🙂

One of the thoughts I will leave all of you with today, is to make sure that you are doing what you love even if in a small way in your day. Since my diagnosis I am very clear on what is important to me and I am making sure that I do that. For example, writing is one of those things for me and thus this blog post. 🙂 My soul knows more than ever that it is important to do those things that bring us JOY. I hope you do those too!

And here is a link to my post around my recent cancer diagnosis if you are interested in reading that 🙂
