Life IS A Classroom BUT……………..

“Life IS a classroom and the lesson is LOVE” Maggie Holbik Quote

Is life indeed a classroom?

My entire life I have thought about this question and I never resonated with the thought of us being here to ‘learn lessons’. I had always believed that we were here to create and to have JOY!

However, I have come to a new understanding, at least for me…..

I feel that we are here to learn the ‘Art of Love’ also. The Art of Love helps us to learn kindness, compassion, empathy, understanding, and more. We learn about these through experience i.e. the days spent in the classroom of life. 🙂

When I was around 16 years old I was given an internal message that I never forgot. That message was that I was on earth to learn to “love and not judge”. I have never forgotten this and it is now even more meaningful for me.

As I travel through life, I continue to experience life’s teachings and they continue to teach me about the gift of the Art of Love. For example, as I walk through my journey with cancer, I am opening to a whole new form of Grace around this Love.

I am learning that every encounter can be an act of Love or an act of Grace, as I like to call it. I know that I learn from every encounter and experience that I have and I imagine that I also have something to offer in the encounter as well. We are all teachers and students in every encounter we have. The secret is to empower others in every experience and hopefully to be empowered also.

For example, I had a phone appointment with someone today who is helping me to set up a program that I may want to access in the future that will help me with my health choices and quality of life. I was so moved by this person and I know that I in turn moved her. I knew right after our phone conversation that what I shared with her by recognizing her role in her work and in the world, might impact her now and forever more. And you know what I also knew? I knew deep down that when we impact one person, it is not just one person, it is the whole. We are all one and when one person is impacted they impact all of those they come in contact with and on it goes.

I hope that you find JOY in the classroom of life and that you too let the Art of Love add richness and meaning to your life.

I encourage you to see every encounter as one where you can enrich someone else’s life and in turn your life may be enriched also.

I love you all!

Maggie

Love & Loving Kindess

“Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself.”

Kahil Gibran

When I think about the most soothing moments in my life, they are the ones where I felt love and that I was also shown love.

I really do believe that we are here on this spiritual journey to express love and to expand our ability to love and to receive love, because we are love. That is who we are. We are love expressing itself. And along with that comes beauty and JOY and compassion…. so many wonderful things.

Lately my favorite words are “loving kindness.” Even if I book myself a medical appointment for a diagnostic or something, I put it in my calendar as my “Loving Kindness Scan” or whatever it is.

I am purposely seeing all people and situations around me as opportunities for me to receive love and well-being from others regardless of their physical role in my life.

When we do this, we can then expand our ability to take in and receive love and that is a good thing because then we have more to give too. 🙂 Awesome all around.

I am sending lots of LOVE your way today too! Can you feel it? 🙂

Attracting More Love Into Your Life

Card Quote from Gabrielle Bernstein “By spreading loving energy I attract more Love.

In recent blog posts around thoughts, thinking, and the power of affirmations, we talked about thinking good thoughts to attract more good thoughts and affirmations about embracing who we are which in turn helps us to love ourselves more. These are all important because they help us to love ourselves more!

When we love ourselves more we spread loving energy and shine our loving light onto others and it truly becomes a breeding ground of love and more love.

The more we soften and embrace the loving energies within our own hearts, the more we open the highway of love for everyone.

Love is the common thread of who we all are. We have come from love and we will return to love. And we can love ourselves and others all the way back to where we came from. And as I often quote my favorite quote from the late Ram Dass:

“We are all just walking each other home.”

With Much Love,

Maggie

Start Every Day with this Song~

I have a good friend named Paul Luftenegger. We met through Facebook and I can’t say enough about Paul or his music. My life has changed for the better since meeting Paul and I am forever grateful to Facebook for this gift. And of course to the divine orchestration that occurred to make this happen. 🙂

This morning I took time to watch and listen to one of his music videos of a song he wrote called “Universal Love”.

I can’t watch and listen to this video without being moved to tears. It makes my inner being remember that nothing else matters, just Universal Love and Love Expanding Love.

When I listen to it, all of my cares and worries fall away and I remember ‘Who I Am”.

I am going to make it a goal to listen to this often if not daily to remind myself of who I really am.

I hope that you too enJOY this beautiful piece.

The song “Universal Love” by Paul Luftenegger

I hope that you take time to enJOY Paul’s music and other uplifting music, poetry, art, pictures, writings, or anything that moves your soul in a good way.

Oh How I Love Thee

My Bella

As many of you know, I adore Facebook memories and go to them every morning. They are such a nice journal for life.

Anyhow, this morning before I checked my FB memores I was lying in bed with my Bella on top of me. I was lying on my side and she was sitting on my side with her head toward my head. I took this picture of it…

Me in bed with Bella the cat on top of me. Her head resting on my shoulder and arm.

I was basking in our mutual love and loving the warmth of her tiny body on mine. It takes me back to the days of my tiny child on top of me and it warms my heart when those memories flood through.

There is nothing better than a tiny body snuggled in bed with you and then to top it off with an angelic voice from a tiny munchkin. Ahhh so sweet it is!

But in this case it is purrs and that is just as angelic.

When I opened my FB memories, I saw this.

A screenshot of a FB memory that this was the day I got my Bella 7 years ago and the two scary things that happened that day. 1) we thought she was lost in the furnace vents and 2) we thought she was lost outside

I remember this day well 7 years ago. It was like having a new baby but the baby could walk. LOL

I reflected this morning on how much JOY Bella gives us and the LOVE she brings into our house.

When my daughter was a baby my friend Helen said to me something to the effect of “Every house should have a four legged friend” or something like that and I took her words to heart and made it happen, along with the Universe lining it up for me from a mutual friend on Facebook, Sandi Boucher.

Sandi had posted that Bella and her brothers had been rescued from the bush and needed homes. Sivanna, my daughter who was 7 at the time, and I went to pick out the kitten we wanted and well the rest is history. Bella came home that day and it has been wonderful and wonderfilled. 🙂

I am learning in life and through my studies, that LOVE is the universal pull that attracts to us all of the good and glory. The more we live in LOVE, the more beauty and awesomeness is attracted to us.

Pets help to be that conduit of LOVE so that the circuits of our life light up with LOVE and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

I know not everyone can have a pet for various reasons, but if you can it is so worthwhile. I really believe they are gifts from the Gods to bring us JOY an to fill and overflow our hearts with that unconditional love that we all seek.

Have a Blessed day everyone!

I give these to Bella with her wet food. She loves it! All pets love this stuff! Just read the reviews and you will know why.

“A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval”. Mark Twain

WHO is your biggest obstacle in your life?

WHO stops YOU from being YOU?

Is it YOU?

I think we are all guilty of this sometimes. The greatest freedom in life is the freedom to be who we are.

I was thinking this morning a kind of crazy but fun thought. What if we saw ourselves as a slow cooker or crock pot. Just get up ‘set it and forget it’. Meaning get up, be who we are exactly as we are, and off we go to en𝐉𝐎𝐘 our day.

I love to write about these things so I can remind myself about concepts like this. Maggie, just be YOU.

I have found that the more ME I am, the easier my life has gotten. I am a work in progress. I take baby steps and I keep going. I forgive, I forget, I love, and I learn compassion as I go. I learn to be compassionate with myself and with others.

A baby taking a step ‘baby steps’

The more insecurities I have the more I am learning about humankind. WE are human. We make mistakes. We learn. We keep going. There is nowhere to ‘get to’ and as Ram Dass so eloquently stated “We are just walking each other home”.

So my friends, whatever you need today, I am sending. I am sending strength to those who need that. I am sending Love to you and to me! I am sending thoughts of beauty and encouragement. I am sending you encouragement to be YOU and to LOVE YOU! You are enough and you are AMAZING just as you are. And by the way, you look so beautiful just being all human like like you are. 🙂

Whatever it is you need right now to feel stronger, supported and loved, know that these very words are infused with all of that and more……

(っ◔◡◔)っ ♥ Sweetness ♥ 🍬 Too Cute Not To Share!

So Sweet!

Today my daughter Sivanna, who is now 14, shared with me a paragraph she wrote for one of her online class assignments.

Aria is 4 and is Sivanna’s great niece.

Princess Aria

This is what Sivanna had to say to the question “What is something that always puts a file on your face?”

Sivanna’s answer:

“Something that always puts a smile on my face is Aria. Aria is my 4 year old great niece. Every time I see her, her face lights up. Whenever she sees me she has a huge smile on her face and runs up to me and gives me a big hug. That always makes me smile. She is always so cute and whatever she does makes me smile. Whether the way she talks or when she dances, or how she is so sweet and shares with me. Everything she does makes me smile and I love her. But I can’t see her right now because of quarantine.”

♥ I thought this was so sweet. ♥

While I was looking for Aria’s picture for this blog post, I found one of when my Sivanna Rose was little. So cute too!

♥ Your HEART is where LOVE lives. ♥

My honey is an amazing man full of Love. He wrote a list of “Words To Live By” back in January of this year and this was one of the ones on the list. It is his quote and I quite like it.

♥ Your HEART is where LOVE lives. ♥ Don Perry

If we really think about it, I am sure we can all ‘feel’ how true this is. Think of when you see a picture of a baby or small child in JOY. Your heart just swells.

A smiling baby sitting in a chair in a wheat field.

Our hearts lift and expand when we feel JOY or feel LOVING thoughts or when we see BEAUTIFUL things.

When we live in and from our heart centers, we get to experience the true gift of life.

♥ We Are One in All Of This ♥

I am at the cottage or camp as we call it here in Northern Canada. Something happened to me twice today so I know that I was meant to share the message.

I ran across, in two different locations, something that resonated with me deeply

. 1) in my sock drawer and 2) in my camp journal, was this poem written by my Honey, Don in August of 2012. The words speak volumes to me at this time and I hope you enJOY them too!

Here it is:

When you are in spirit, you are in union with God.You become one with the forest as you sit on that log. Your mind transcends what you believe to be true. You see (っ◔◡◔)っonly ♥ Love ♥ in whatever you do. The sky becomes bluer and the stars more bright…❈❈❈ As you inhale nature in the middle of the night.
