Is life indeed a classroom?
My entire life I have thought about this question and I never resonated with the thought of us being here to ‘learn lessons’. I had always believed that we were here to create and to have JOY!
However, I have come to a new understanding, at least for me…..
I feel that we are here to learn the ‘Art of Love’ also. The Art of Love helps us to learn kindness, compassion, empathy, understanding, and more. We learn about these through experience i.e. the days spent in the classroom of life. ๐
When I was around 16 years old I was given an internal message that I never forgot. That message was that I was on earth to learn to “love and not judge”. I have never forgotten this and it is now even more meaningful for me.
As I travel through life, I continue to experience life’s teachings and they continue to teach me about the gift of the Art of Love. For example, as I walk through my journey with cancer, I am opening to a whole new form of Grace around this Love.
I am learning that every encounter can be an act of Love or an act of Grace, as I like to call it. I know that I learn from every encounter and experience that I have and I imagine that I also have something to offer in the encounter as well. We are all teachers and students in every encounter we have. The secret is to empower others in every experience and hopefully to be empowered also.
For example, I had a phone appointment with someone today who is helping me to set up a program that I may want to access in the future that will help me with my health choices and quality of life. I was so moved by this person and I know that I in turn moved her. I knew right after our phone conversation that what I shared with her by recognizing her role in her work and in the world, might impact her now and forever more. And you know what I also knew? I knew deep down that when we impact one person, it is not just one person, it is the whole. We are all one and when one person is impacted they impact all of those they come in contact with and on it goes.
I hope that you find JOY in the classroom of life and that you too let the Art of Love add richness and meaning to your life.
I encourage you to see every encounter as one where you can enrich someone else’s life and in turn your life may be enriched also.
I love you all!
Maggie
